Was really happy to receive my brand new Studio 1747 Laptop with i7 Processor, 4 Gig RAM and 1 Gig ATI 4650 graphics from Dell.
The laptop itself is really sexy and the screen is great. I was even enjoying having Windows 7 for about 2 days before the laptop decided to die on me.
I was just making something to eat when I came back to the Laptop the screen was black. I thought maybe it went into sleep mode or something but the power was completely off. So I turned it back on and all seemed well then couple minutes later it was off again. The left hand side of the laptop was running very hot and had the worrying smell of something burning up inside.
Got on to Dell support and tried to go over some tests with them but the computer would proceed to switch off on its own accord. So they have scheduled in a repair for me but the part they need is currently out of stock! So I now the proud owner of one very fashionable and expensive paper weight!
This seems to be a real problem with other users.. Although I haven't had the 7 Beeps on startup the symptoms sound the same. Follow this thread at dells community forum, if you are having similar problems.

Hopefully this can be sorted out soon and I can start using my Laptop! :)
