Speaking at Ecommerce Scotland

I recently had the opportunity to speak at Ecommerce Scotland’s Reshaping Ecommerce: AI, Automation & People event and it was a brilliant experience.

There had been a last minute speaker who pulled out so my colleague Ashley Farr who was also speaking at the conference got a email from Dr. John McSloy to ask if she knew anyone, and I really jumped at the chance.

Growing up introverted and keeping quiet in large groups the idea of public speaking has never been something that comes naturally to me and the idea of standing up in front of a room full of people to talk about AI in ecommerce to a room of experts was pretty daunting, but its something I am passionate about so knew it was something I should get involved in for my own progression.

On the day I kept going over my notes wondering if I’d forget everything the moment I got up there but once I was actually on stage and started talking I found myself genuinely enjoying sharing the panel with Claire Logan & Brian Fraser.

There’s something about sharing what you know and it was great talking to people afterwards giving me compliments for my part of the panel, so it’s definitely given me the taste to push myself outside my comfort zone as that’s where we grow!
